April 2 - August 3, 2008 Exhibition	Give it a Rest: People at Play in American Prints and Drawings, 1890–1945 at the Detroit Institute of Arts - Detroit, MI This exhibition of approximately 100 works on paper serves as a corollary and thematic complement to Life's Pleasures: The Ashcan Artists' Brush with Leisure, 1895-1925. It is drawn almost entirely from the DIA’s collection and is dominated by the prints of John Sloan, George Bellows, Glenn O. Coleman, and Martin Lewis. Their images, which feature people at the circus, the beach, boxing matches, in city parks, on rooftops, reading, walking, dancing, or just relaxing, form a rich reflection of casual times in daily life. Grouped around these scenes of play and leisure are individual images by other artists such as Childe Hassam and Guy Pène du Bois. The early era is represented by several colorful lithographs created for popular magazines by Edward Penfield and William Carqueville and the range of the exhibition is expanded to include works made by artists during the late 1930s who were employed through the Works Progress Administration, a United States federal economic relief program.

Aug. 17, 2008 Tour	The University District Home and Garden Tour - Detroit, MI Save the date! Sunday, August 17, 2008, 11am to 5pm, rain or shine. Drive down the tree lined streets of the University District and you will discover a quiet community in the heart of a great city. The approximately 1200 homes were built during the “Golden Age of Housing”, 1925-1930 and 1937-1941 when construction technology was highly developed and building costs were relatively low. The homes reflect a wide variety of architectural styles: Tudor, Colonial, Mediterranean, and French Provincial.

Oct 11, 2008 thru Dec 31, 2008 Exhibition	At Home with Gustav Stickley: Arts and Crafts from the Stephen Gray Collection - Hartford, CT On October 10, 2008 the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art will open At Home with Gustav Stickley: Arts and Crafts from the Stephen Gray Collection. This exhibition of approximately 140 objects will feature exceptional works from the collection of Stephen Gray, as well as related works from the holdings of the Wadsworth Atheneum. On view until January 4, 2009, At Home with Gustav Stickley will be accompanied by a full-color catalogue with essays by Stephen Gray, David Cathers, and Tommy McPherson.

Oct. 17-19, 2008 Conference	Pasadena Heritage's Seventeenth Annual Craftsman Weekend - Pasadena, CA Pasadena Heritage will present its annual Craftsman Weekend on October 17-19, 2008. Celebrating its 17th year this fall, Craftsman Weekend is the largest and most comprehensive salute to the Arts & Crafts Movement in the Western United States. The Weekend’s offerings will include a tour of significant Craftsman-era houses, exhibits by antique dealers specializing in the Arts & Crafts Movement and modern craftsmen spealizing in the period style, and a lecture series by nationally prominent Craftsman Movement experts.
